An insurance brand for a complex new world.

In 1984 Stephen Catlin established Catlin as an underwriting agency at Lloyd's of London.

Catlin grew to become a global specialty insurance and reinsurance company with the ability to find innovative, creative solutions to risks – from the most familiar to the most complex.

After 30 years in action, the original Catlin identity required a bit of an update, to protect much loved identity assets like the Catlin beige and the iconic Catlin umbrella, and evolve others in line with a changing world.

The new identity gave CATLIN a renewed clarity of purpose and communication, streamlining the brochureware to facilitate the underwriters’ task. One of the most complex task was to find an imagery approach that would showcase the variety of Catlin's expertise. New photography, illustration and iconography was used to illustrate Catlin’s comprehensive coverage.

On January 2015, it was announced that Catlin Group would be acquired by XL Group plc. Key elements of the Catlin Identity redesign have become part of the combined XL Catlin identity.
