Rebranding one of the world's oldest universities.

The University of Santiago de Compostela is one of the oldest universities in the world, its roots tracing back to 1495. The university has more than 40,000 students and 2,000 teachers and researchers.

But how to take that enormous heritage and make it relevant to students and employees, making them proud of being part of a forward thinking academic organisation? 

The new identity repositioned the institution externally, giving a graphic representation to the USC abbreviation that has unofficially been used for many years and reflecting the personality of the institution as one of the leading European institutions in the fields of chemistry, medicine and physics.

Inspired by the periodic table of Elements, using simple shapes and a humanist font to capture the institution heritage, the logo and identity program brought the institution visually into the 21st century.
